“Famille GOURJON” – Languedoc, Rhône & Pays d’Oc
OUR HISTORY
Our family has always maintained a fusional relationship with the Land. In 1857, Auguste Gourjon planted the first vines on our Estate.
Since then, Leon, Robert and Christian have brought their stone to the building.
Sweat, laughter and tears have forged men and women with voluntary and whole characters. Today we are the grateful custodians of a story that we continue to write.
“This region that has seen me grow is the natural link between the Rhone valley and the Languedoc, here the pebble meets the garrigue. More than 2000 years of history have shaped cities, villages and vineyards. This great place of passage has known to enrich itself over the centuries, cultures and know-how of many civilizations. It is the very soul of this region that has inspired me to travel and to discover other horizons that have enriched my skills and my vision of the world. ”
Christian GOURJON
CHATEAU FONT BARRIÈLE- PRESTIGIOUS Estate from Costières de Nimes
If the Rhodanian terrace of rolled pebbles that shelters our vineyard could speak, it would certainly tell the story of a family of winegrowers who, for 4 generations, patiently tries to extract from this terroir the delicate and powerful expression of a vineyard secular, son of the Mediterranean.
The preservation of the vineyard heritage is added to the protection of the Bustard Canepetière, a species of protected bird nestled in the heart of our vineyards in the Natura 2000 area.
At the hinge of the Costières appellations of Nîmes and Côtes du Rhône, at the convergence of Arles, Nîmes and Avignon, the castle Font Barrièle is a discreet jewel or heart of a treasure of History.
